Movie description: Queer feminist vampires? That instantly caught my attention. With a title like "Bit", I knew this was either gonna be great, terrible, or so bad that it's good. But as a connoisseur of B movies, I was prepared for any one of these outcomes, and I was pleasantly surprised. First off the bat (Hahahaha. Bat. Vampire movie) I absolutely love the fact that the main character is trans, and the movie isn't about her transition. It's just one aspect of who she is. It's no different than she has dark hair and brown eyes. This is so fucking refreshing! Oh my gods! As a queer person myself, I'm so used to trans film characters being either exploited or their gender being the main focus of the film. This is the kind of trans representation we need in film. But that's not all that I really enjoyed about this film. The acting is good! The fx are great! The soundtrack is wonderful! The story is so interesting! We've got all the teen drama, but there's a bigger plot of vamps vs hunters going on in the background, and vamps vs toxic masculinity. And that plot twist!!!!!! I'm trying to keep this mostly spoiler free, so I'm not gonna go into a lot of deets, but just like, holy shit y'all. This is exactly the kind of film I frickin live for. Definitely recommend checking it out.
